Our Mission, Values & Ethos

Mission

Kingsriver Community is committed to providing a home and quality person-centred opportunities, including training, for people of various abilities and to strive to empower them to realise their full potential as contributing members of society.

We aim to do this by:

  • Providing a safe and comfortable living environment, a warm and welcoming atmosphere in a life-sharing model.

  • Providing a high standard of care and promoting the health and well being of all members of our household.

  • Providing an environment where all members of our household are valued equally.

  • Providing a range of activities and experiences that enable each person to develop and reach their full potential.

  • Supporting each person to be active in the local and wider community.

Ethos

The intention of Kingsriver Community is to create a home rather than an institution. We aim to provide a living and working environment that is conducive to a feeling of well being, physical and emotional security.

We believe people with disabilities have the right to dignity and respect, to grow, develop and pursue their aspirations, the same as other citizens, and that they may need extra support and education to do so. We consider that a quality life is one where people participate in their community, gain the respect of others, enjoy meaningful relationships, use skills, exercise choices, and have opportunities to express themselves.
